The best time to come
Early morning, late evening, midweek quiet — when the yard hits different, and why summer changes everything.
There is not really a bad time to come down. But there are some times that hit differently, and regulars always figure them out eventually.
Early morning is the most popular answer. The harbour is quiet, the pier is yours, and the light over the water at 7am in June is worth getting up for. You are done — truly done, with the cold and the heat and the whole thing behind you — before most people have started their day. People who have never been morning people come for one early session and stop being evening people.
Late evenings in summer run close. The sauna stays on until 10pm on weekends, the sky over the harbour goes gold and then pink and then that particular shade of Irish grey-blue, and there is no better place to be sitting than outside the cedar door with a cold water bottle and your shoulders properly loose. Both locations, Wicklow and Arklow. Come find your time.
