Journal Sauna in the heatwave
Ireland hit 30° this week and the yard was busier than ever. Here is why the sauna makes more sense in a heatwave than you might think.
Wicklow Town · Arklow
Cold sea. Hot sauna. Clear head.
Step into a hot wood-fired sauna. Cool down in the ice baths, or the sea. Take a moment to reset properly.
About The Boat Yard
The Boat Yard Sauna started from a simple idea: create a space by the coast where people could slow down, warm up, recover, and feel better leaving than they did arriving.
The experience is built around the contrast of heat and cold — a hot sauna, cold water, fresh air, and a calm, welcoming atmosphere. But what really makes The Boatyard special is the feeling around it: the people, the setting, the ritual, and the small details that make every session feel looked after.
Some people come for recovery after training. Some come for a sea dip and a reset. Some come with friends. Some come for quiet time. Everyone is welcome.
We are building a coastal wellness community — a place for rituals, resets, recovery, connection, and good people.
01
Step into a hot, wood-fired sauna. Warm cedar, calm music, and the harbour just outside. Settle in and let the week fall away.
02
Cool down in the ice baths, or walk straight into the sea. Ten seconds of cold that rearranges the whole day.
03
Move between heat and cold at your own pace. Dry off, warm up, and leave feeling better than you arrived.
Life at the water
Two harbours, one ritual
The original benchmark for The Boatyard experience — calm, coastal, and built for proper reset time. A hot sauna, cold plunge options, tidy changing areas, warm lighting, and a peaceful coastal feel.
The Boatyard experience brought to a growing local community, with the same focus on heat, cold, atmosphere, and friendly service. A warm welcome, a clean setup, hot sauna sessions, and cold plunge options throughout.

Gift online or in person
Give the gift of heat, cold, calm, and a proper reset. Buy online through Wunderbook, or pick up a physical voucher at either location.
Collect a voucher in the sauna, or buy one online.
All sessions should be booked online in advance where possible. Walk-ins may be available depending on the day, but booking ahead is the best way to secure your spot.
Good to know
Most sessions give you enough time to move between sauna and cold water without rushing. Staff let you know when your session is coming to an end so the space can be cleaned and reset for the next group.
We recommend arriving ready to sauna where possible, especially during busy sessions.

Story There is no better spot for a sauna in Wicklow than right here — at the end of the pier, facing the open sea.
Journal Early morning, late evening, midweek quiet — when the yard hits different, and why summer changes everything.
The harbour line
One short note a month. No noise, just the water.
